“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”
Mark Twain
Who on Earth are you?
My name is Keenal. I’m strong, independent British Asian lady that don’t need no man, in my early 20’s. I’m a psychology graduate, feminist, egalitarian, left wing human. I enjoy reading, cocktails, writing poetry, travelling and equality among all humans. My goal is to see as much of the world as possible and leave a positive mark on this planet, however small and insignificant I may be in the grand scheme of the universe.
My dad is from East Africa, my mum from India and I along with my older sister were born in London. I studied at the University of Sussex with an all too short year abroad in New York and have worked largely in admin since. I am a vegetarian (95% of the time), and a pacifist 80% of the time. My family may say I’m stubborn, I say I’m passionate about social issues that affect all groups of people. They may say I’m always out, I would say I’m experiencing life to the fullest, one country or cocktail at a time 😉
Why should I bother visiting your beautiful site?
Thank you for the complement! I will be penning musings, poems and articles on a variety of topics ranging from the tantalizingly thrilling to taboo. This blog is a small reflection of my identity as a British born Gujarati woman (amongst the other labels I fall under), which I hope resonates with some of my readers and provides a new perspective to others.
You can expect travel related blogs from classy cocktail places in London, or further afield when my wallet allows for a holiday. There’s cultural content and social content, from the vibrant, to the taboo. I will also use my psych knowledge (finally!) and post about the mind and body as well as my poetry and whatever else takes my fancy.
Are you going to pester me to share/follow?
If you’ve made it this far, then you’re a beautiful human! As this blog is as small as me (I’m 4’11’ so that’s saying something), please share if you like any of the posts, to your social media accounts. You can also subscribe down below to receive any new posts by email. 🙂
1. You sounds like a fantastic human being. I’m in my seventies and am heartened to know that you’re part of the generation that mine is passing the world on to. Sorry we haven’t done a better job with it. We have, some (but not enough) of us, been trying.
2. I like the Twain quote, but I think he’s wrong. I’ve known people who travel, seek out enclaves that are exactly like the places they left only with beaches, heat, and lots more alcohol, then come home knowing only what they left knowing–or believing, anyway.
3. You’re one of the few people around who’s shorter than me, although not by much.

I really appreciate that Ellen! And I am proud of this generation for being more empathetic, open minded and tolerant (or the ones I associate with at least), but I think we can learn at least a few things from each generation. It sounds like you have a lot of wisdom to pass on to some of us, yourself.
I agree with you partly there, there are people that travel in a bubble and seek no more than cocktail on the beach (not that there’s anything wrong with that sometimes). I think Twain had more mindful purposeful travel when he said that haha.
I am glad to have made you feel a little taller!
